If you’re a student at LJMU then this is a great choice. Part of the brand new multi-million-pound development in Liverpool city-centre, the gym in the LJMU Sports Centre offers 120+ pieces of exercise equipment including a range of state-of-the-art Technogym Excite machines. There are also free weight stations, weightlifting platforms, and resistance machines.

‘The Gym’ describe their offer as ‘fantastic value for money’ and with standard memberships costing just £15.99 per month, we’re inclined to agree.

Lifestyles gyms are owned by Liverpool City Council and members have entry to 12 different centres spread across Liverpool. The benefit to being a Lifestyles member is that no matter what sport you’re into, Lifestyles cater for it. Centers include the Liverpool Tennis Centre, Wavertree Athletics Centre, Liverpool Aquatics Centre and number of other gyms and facilities across the city. You can even hire floodlit Astro pitches for 5-a-side or 7-a-side footy matches.
Concession student membership costs £15 per month with use of the gyms up to 4pm, or pay £20 per month to include peak time usage. You will need a letter from university and your student ID to join.
