Liverpool is renowned for its rich musical heritage due to legendary acts like The Beatles and Frankie Goes to Hollywood originating from the city. Liverpool is even recognised as a UNESCO City of Music, so where better to start than a top musical attraction? The British Music Experience, located at the famous Liverpool waterfront, is the perfect destination for music fans. This exhibition tells the story of British music from all the ages. As well as the Beatles, this museum showcases acts such as Oasis, David Bowie and the X Factor.
The British Music Experience allows you to get up close and personal with iconic costumes, instruments and memorabilia used by the artists themselves. Interactive activities are also available, including the chance to test your skills on various instruments – or show off your dance moves! Doors are open Wednesday to Sunday from 10am until 5pm. Virtual Reality has blown up over the last few years with massive amounts of hype surrounding the technology. Do you fancy trying it out for yourself? VR Here is the place to be to get a taste of how VR takes gaming’s immersive worlds to a whole new level. Just on the outskirts of the city centre, the venue has been designed to create an environment optimised for virtual reality. Have you ever entertained the idea of wakeboarding? Well now you can turn the idea into a reality with Industry Wake! This water activity is tons of fun for all ages, from students to kids and even 60 year olds. Wakeboarding was introduced in 1985 by a San Diego surfer and it has since transformed into a popular activity. The concept of this water sport is relatively simple. Participants can perform tricks while riding on a small board towed by a speedboat.
At Industry Wake Liverpool, the organisers have worked closely with the local council to turn a disused dock into a vibrant location for wakeboarding fun. All the necessary equipment, such as towers and anchors, are fixed in the water and not attached to the dock walls.

This one is for all the Beatles fans out there! The Fab Four Taxi Tour visits some of the most iconic locations in the Beatles’ history. This award-winning tour has become popular with both tourists and new residents seeking a bit of history of their new home. The cafe has been designed to offer a safe place where you can relax and unwind, and can be a helpful choice for people with mental illness and autism.
The Cat Cafe in Liverpool has several cats that you can get up close and personal with. There’s Emmeline who is a Ragamuffin breed, the Siberian Penelope (who has her own Instagram page!), as well as many more. While full hot meals aren’t served, there is a selection of lunchtime options including paninis and bagels. There is also a bakery menu offering delicious cakes, muffins and biscuits, while drinks are unlimited. Visitors pay for their time which is £1 per person for every 5 minutes spent at the cafe.

The Ultimate Indoor Paintballing arena in Liverpool combines the very best of this intense activity without the pitfalls of a cold, wet and muddy environment. Can you really consider yourself a student if you haven’t had a wild night singing at the top of your lungs?! Liverpool is a fantastic city for a vibrant nightlife and there are several bars around the city for you and your mates to sing and dance the night away. MBox Karaoke on Renshaw Street is one of the best karaoke venues in the city and prices are half price for students on Wednesday and Thursday. There are a selection of uniquely designed rooms available to book for groups of all sizes from 5 people all the way up to 20. There’s even a full waiter service offering you and your friends food and drink!
For another karaoke option, Woody Liverpool is a fantastic sports and karaoke bar situated right in the heart of Liverpool’s bustling nightlife. This bar caters to all ages and preferences, and is a popular destination amongst the student community. Karaoke is available every day and usually starts at 8pm except on Saturdays when it commences at 5pm. The Zanzibar Club is a great place to be for fans of alternative and rock music. This venue can hold up to 300 people and is known for the kickstarting the careers of new talent. The Arts Club Liverpool on Seel Street is a brilliant venue for catching live music and was built all the way back in the early 1800s. The Arts Club has transformed into a high quality space for music, art and drinks. Musicians from across the world have performed here as well as as local and national artists. Other live events take place here including comedy and club nights.
A number of bars are available at the venue serving your favourite liquor while and if you have any personal belongings, these can be stored in a cloakroom. Event tickets can be booked in advance or on the day if any are still available.

The escape game craze has hit the student community in particular and Liverpool has one of the best venues with Breakout Liverpool. The aim of Breakout is for you and up to four friends to escape a locked room within 60 minutes. To do so, you must work together to find clues and solves puzzles which are necessary to aid your escape plan.
Breakout Liverpool currently has 12 rooms each with varying difficulty, themes and stories. For instance, one has you escaping a bank vault as an elite team of robbers while another takes place on a shipwrecked Pirate ship.

With so much to discover, Liverpool is a city best explored by transport. The City Explorer Liverpool open top bus is the ideal solution catching a sightseeing tour of the city. This bus allows you to hop on and off at 14 of the best destinations in the city. You will visit iconic locations throughout the city centre including the Royal Albert Dock Liverpool, the Cavern Quarter, the two cathedrals and Cains Brewery Village. City Explorer tickets cost just £8 for students and are valid for 24 hours.
Are you a football supporter? Then you may wish to also consider LFC City Explorer. This tour bus visits the Shankly Museum and travels past the best view in the city at Everton Park. It stops right outside Anfield Stadium where you can tour the ground of Liverpool FC, one of England’s most successful football clubs.
